Death Star

mimas

You might be asking yourself “Is that the Deathstar?”

Actually - it’s one of Saturns moons named Mimas recently photographed recently by Cassini. The ‘gun’ is actually a huge crater. Read more about it here .

O boy..

And I quote…

The ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) has added the first IPv6 addresses to its root DNS servers. IPv6 has trillions more Internet addresses than the current IPv4 format, and this is considered the first major step towards getting the world onto the new format.

Ya know what that means? America may not really have a problem right now assigning unique addresses to users like other countries, but eventually this will occur and this is a solution. If anyone recognizes a standard IP address (such as 68.xx.xxx.xx), this will be ancient history and might look something like “3ffe:1200:2001:1:8000::2″ - crazy! Try memorizing that shiat. Geek.com has a story and more comments on this.

The Governator

Posted in General on July 19th, 2004

This article fills us in on how Gov. Terminator today called his fellow politicians ‘girlie-men’ after they’ve continually put off passing his newly created budget.

Girlie Men - LOL…I’ve gotta find a live clip of this, so I can hear him actually say it. It’s about damn time someone quit thinking about politics and started distributing some tough love in that state. If you put a sissy man in charge of a buncha sissies then your bound to have problems like they have. Way to go Governator!

Paypal Scam

Posted in General on July 18th, 2004

For the past few days I’ve really had a daily reminder as to just how VICIOUS doing ANYTHING online can be today. Today, virtually speaking, you cannot go to ANY public site and not have some sort of cookie loaded onto your machine, or an attempt activex and application installed when you click ‘yes’ (NEVER CLICK YES!) or an attempt to have some part of your body ‘enlarged’ (only thing I need enlarged is my mailbox to hold all that fucking SPAM). The internet today is nothing but a pure infestation of advertisers hiring computer junkies and burnt out nerds to find NEW ways to single handedly fill your computer full of persuasive, invasive, and outright mind boggling amounts of material to get you to buy something, invest in something or look at something. Not to mention gathering your personal information so they are sure to have a solid body of ‘clients’ for future advertising developments that we are ALL interested for sure.

But I’m drifting from my original intent for this post…

Tonight I came across a scary entry, so all you ebay/paypal users perk up and listen - hell anyone that uses a login for ANYTHING should listen…

URL Spoofing is not a new thing - spoofing is basically where you follow a link which directs your browser to a site which MIMICS legitimate site and fools you into believeing you’re logging into your __________ account. WRONG

Paypal - the ever popular and now partner to ebay payment is now another victim in a spoofing scam - a link which directs you to a mimic page, you tap those few keystrokes in for your paypal login and BAM, you’ve just granted access to any money you have stored there and any BANK ACCOUNT information as well. You’re not logging into paypal…you’re logging your login name and password to their running list, giving them the chance to log right in and change your password instantly..locking you out and giving you the financial finger. I could harp about this but you get my point…

Sharing the Groove has a thread about this issue, and notes this isn’t restricted to just IE (for all you Microsoft haters) and shows you you should be concious of URLS you visit, etc. Take a quick look at it, and think about this the next time you start typing in your personal info…

I remember a time when the most annoying popups were the ones from /tripod sites - “free” hosting - those were the days! Good luck folks…

OMG UPDATE!: Here’s a copy of the kinds of emails that are luring people into this trap! Jesus…

If anyone has seen THIS WRECK then you know it’s almost in-credible and someone must have just rigged it up. Quite the contrary as this article clarifies - and the crazy part is that the guy actually lives. Whatta bad day…

Snopes.com has a good operation going on over there with it’s research and reviews of urban legends and such - check it out if you’ve ever really wondered about something like that.

In other news, I have no news really. Training is going about as well as bus training can go I suppose…the CDL exam is going to be a bitch, but hey - what isnt? I’ve spent the past couple of days repairing Trains new computer (Dell, lemme tell ya..you do a shit ass job with your new computers that you ship out. I mean really..does the OS really need all that extra junk for her to to be satisfied? Or are you working on that dual income, components AND advertisement? Fucking shit…). I may in the process be able to buy her old laptop which I repaired a few minor problems on (with some lenghty research of my own and quick research of Justin ) and have an independent word processor which I can tote around with my upcoming major classes. I could really use that extra ability to focus one computer completely on research and paper production. We’ll see how that works out. Oh and if anyone has a IBM Thinkpad 600e - do you mind if I borrow your battery for about 10 minutes? I’ll explain more if you have one…

I wanna try to go home this summer, but I really can’t afford it. It’s been what…since Christmas that I was up? Or maybe Nana’s funeral soon after :/.

End of the World

end of the world

I’m sure 75% of you have seen this, but theres always the other 25% which I must ensure have seen this. It’s friggin hilarious and a true piece of art *wink*

Nothing really new with me, still training CDL - have about a week left and then I’ll be driving for Transit. Wooptie-shiat. If you read this site on a regular basis, how about leaving me some comments so I can put some names with some IP’s.

So Meaghan is all moved into her new place, but she really really needs to get a mattress for her futon and some cable television because - I’m fully dependent on comfort and entertainment on my days off. There was an incident though with Matt getting shocked(electrocuted nearly) by a dryer power cable we were hooking up - lemme tell ya folks, 220 volts thru the left arm, heart and then back down my right arm and up the back of my neck is not an experience I’d like to encounter again. Woo…

Otherwise - nothing is new, except for the fact that I’ve discovered the new fad for THUGS to to buy these things and then ride them around Greenville. Can you imagine how stupid they look? Yeah..well..*snickers*

And in other news, even though this article is dated a few years back I still think it’s really interesting and pokes at one of my passions in life - geeky star ____ stuff. Check out SHIELDS FOR TANKS . ;) Give it 10 or 20 years and countries will be equipped with these suckas.

With that said..D00D!!!

Me First and the GImme Gimmes

^Good Cover Band (Topic)

But really this entry is just to test a theory of mine as to why my second most recent entry is screwed up visually. Nothing for you to worry with.

I’ve gotten up everyday at 7am this past week (barring Monday) for my CDL training slots with transit, I don’t even have to get up early tomorrow but all I wanna do right now is go to bed. Had dinner tonight with WAR & ADR, ate way too much. Helping Meaghan move into her nice new apartment tomorrow, and I’ve just been informed that I’m to assist with decorating too. Yeah uhh..that’s gonna end up me just reaching the tall stuff and taking orders.

Really I wish I could either head down to Morehead City for a day and get some laps in across the Atlantic or maybe drive down to Shelby and help the “Moores” with their newly purchased light-fixer-upper home. I like feeling constructive - I guess I could go ahead and drop that new line to my right channel speaker. Ooo I’m lazy..

Speaking of dropping that new line - I had to move my computer desk over a bit and get it away from the window for two reasons. #1 I was having mucho problems accessing the rear of my case w/o stabbing myself in the stomach with the corner of the desk and #2 I was invaded by ants - so I found the source (the window, big surprise) and I turned that entry point and window sill into a NO MANS LAND. {accent} Let them try again {/accent}

Here’s a funny but stupid site to take a quick look at. Someone needs a hobby. Click on ‘new experience’

Ok I’m weird - Gnite.
