Oh what a day!!!

U.S. Marshals

Posted in General on August 23rd, 2005

Tomorrow I begin the end of my college career… :/:

I need 12 semester hours to complete my college career - this will be achieved thru one 3 hour night course and a 9 hour internship. (was anyone else nervous @ this point that the University had frucked up and told you the incorrect information thus leaving you with the false belief that you truely only needed 12 more hours?)

My internship you’re wondering? The United States Marshals! (thank you Tommy Lee Jones & Wesley Snipes for allowing most to actually recognize the name of this agency)

What do we do? I guess you’ll just have to ask me about it sometime if you have any interest in what I’m doing with my life…

..but I will say this…we kick ass and take names ;) Perhaps one day you’ll be able to say you know a Deputy US Marshal. Or a Secret Service Agent. Or a _____ - wherever my future leads I know it will be in federal service. Or so I hope…hell any sort of service suits me. I’ll bend over backwards to help anyone so long as they do me right. Do me wrong and that’s a horse of a different color I suppose.

When I retire many a moon from now I shall live the legacy of Dog The Bounty Hunter ;)

Zap!

Ok - I don’t really have anything to say except that I found out today that my credit card debt of over $5000 dollars is now down to $1275.83 thanks to working my ass off for going on 4 years (or longer - I don’t want to think about it). It’s hard to go to school full time, work part time and pay living expenses on top of paying for those stupid things. Those of you who don’t have to pay a dime for anything should really consider yourselves lucky. That’s all I’ll say - because even I’ve been lucky and had help.

Cool picture huh?

Hole in One

Posted in General on August 13th, 2005

A Norwegian golfer playing on a course in Sweden managed to nail a hole-in-one that landed in Finland. That must set some sort of Nordic record.

Odd Marthinussen from the Harstad Golf Club in northern Norway was on holiday with his wife Turid earlier this week in Haparanda, Sweden. It was while playing on a local course that the improbable occurred.

Marthinussen teed off from the 14th hole (par 3, 115 meters) and his ball ended up soaring over the border, which cuts across the green. It took four seconds for the ball to land on the green and roll right into the cup.

But since the 14th’s hole is technically in Finland, it’s also in a time zone one hour ahead of Sweden’s. That meant it actually took one hour and four seconds before Marthinussen’s drive plopped into the cup.

Marthinussen said he has played golf for eight years but this was his first hole-in-one. It was duly registered n both countries.

I have returned from my first trip to D.C. and I must say I had a really good time. It was MORE than I ever expected it to be - my first real ‘city’ so to speak. I’ve visted big cities in Europe and walked the streets of some medium sized cities here in the States - but I really had no idea things could be the way they are there.

Observations I made about D.C.

1: The Metro is a way of life. Without it you all could not survive.

2: Clean that green residue off the monuments - oxidation and whatever else it is may be natural - but shouldn’t be ignored. If you want a reminder of how to keep things in tip top shape you should all go see the Old Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

3: For the love of god - SLOW DOWN! You’re all in a hurry to rush thru life and die. And work on that hospitality..you weren’t rude, but you weren’t too nice either. I probably shouldn’t visit NYC because someone might get a bloody italian nose :/.

4: Visitors - don’t expect to see it all in one trip. It’s impossible…if you wanna see it all you might as well move there. We TRIED to see it all and the “vacation” ended up wearing us out.

5: Cost of living…holy god. You may make 53 grand starting salary but you spend 3/4 on that rent and metro fare.

I thought of several things as I wanted to blog about DC - but sadly it’s all been wiped with time. Regardless of the fact that their tea sucks and everyones in a rush…I admit here and now that I could move up there and live. It would be a huge change and I still can’t figure out how people get groceries but I think I could eat, live, sleep and WORK the federal government. FBI White Shirt, SS White Shirt, USM, ATF, DEA…something!

But I’m still stuck on deciding between the SBI and the US Marshals. This is beyond the hardest thing I’ve ever had to decide…

Ok enough of that. Some of you have requested pictures. Theres over 300 and thats not really feasable without a gallery so you’re just going to have take some random ones I choose and thumbnail here.

Oh and much thanks to Megans Dad for letting me tag along on the family vacation.
