Mark this day..

Posted in General on February 28th, 2006

Go ahead and mark today as my first late night/early morning as an official ECU alumnus. I tried logging in to check my ECU mail only to find out that my account has finally been disabled. It took them around 3 months to do this - and I’m getting a little pissed that I STILL haven’t received my diploma. My neighbor got a nice little white envelope..I did not.

Anyways I bet you thought this was going to be an interesting entry ehh?

I might as well brief those on whats up with life at the moment. For the next few years and maybe for an entire career I’ll be working with a local PD getting some street experience and hopefully some investigative experience. My major prospects are Greenville PD and Raleigh PD. I would prefer to stay here for economical reasons but Raleigh would be a great city to work for as well.

To familiarize those who don’t know much about this process it’s nothing as simple as an interview or two. It’s more along the lines of Initial Interview, Polygraph, Fitness Test, Followup Interview, Psychiatric Exam, Medical Exam/Drug Test, and a Panel Review where they fire questions off at you. If you get three thumbs up after all that you’re in for the Academy which range from 4 to 6 months of academic, physical, tactical driving and firearms training and THEN you hit the streets. The next time you wanna grumble at a police officer because he/she isn’t floating your boat make sure you remember the work and prep that goes into becoming an officer and then listening to your lousy excuse for speeding ;)

Join Body. Why?

Posted in General on February 25th, 2006

Has anyone seen those ‘Join Body’ commercials during the Olympics? They hype it up real big - I dont know what it’s about because I can’t even find the site with google. If you haven’t seen the commercial its this “Body” fella and he doesn’t say much - he just tries looking tough and says something along the lines of ‘Want to know more? go to “websitewhichcannotbefoundusing google”.
To the point though - maybe it’s just me but hasn’t he turned out to be a real flop? Maybe NBC and any other future broadcasting company who cover the Olympics will learn their lesson about preemptive ads on competitors. I love America but just because you’re from America doesn’t mean you’re gonna go in and pWn all Olympic events.

Furthermore - wheres the spirit of the original Olympics? Do you think the Greeks would find any appreciation in Snowboarding? Snowboarding may be cool but wheres the true athleticism in it like running 10 miles in 4 minutes or whatever those summer guys do. I don’t have all that much room to talk though because I love watching Curling and the shooting. To bad they only put one on television!

/end Olympic rant

Game Addiction

Posted in General on February 23rd, 2006
I am 53% Video Game Addict.
I have a Video Game Problem

Video games are a big portion of my life, maybe too big of a portion. They are not a means of social interaction, despite what I might think. I should just go outside.

Americas Top Model?

Posted in General on February 21st, 2006

I don’t know anything about this show but I’m guessing it’s a buncha girls with egos and attitudes duking it out some
sort of modeling deal. *yawn*

Regardless - she’s from Brevard, NC where I grew up! *source*

Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus

Posted in General on February 10th, 2006

A song we sang in high school during our European Concert Tour

Ave / verum / Corpus, natum / de / Maria / Virgine:
Hail / true / Body / born / of / Mary / Virgin,

Vere / passum, / immolatum / in / cruce / pro / homine:
truly / suffered / was sacrificed / on / cross / for / mankind

Cujus / latus / perforatum, / unda / fluxit / et / sanguine:
Whose / side / was pierced / from where or water / flowed / and / blood

Esto / nobis / praegustatum / in / mortis / examine.
Be / for us / foretaste / in / of death / testing

O / Jesu / dulcis, / O / Jesu / pie, / O / Jesu / Fili / Mariae,

miserere / mei. / Amen.

Hail, true Body, born of the Virgin Mary,

who has truly suffered, and was sacrificed on the cross for mankind,

whose side was pierced, whence flowed water and blood,

Be for us a foretaste of heaven, during our final trial,

O Jesu sweet, O Jesu merciful, O Jesu Son of Mary,
have mercy on me. Amen.

I can still sing the Latin today but never really knew what the words meant until I got a hankering to look it up. Mozart really had a touch!
