Ace for a day..

Mr. Moore has discovered the ultimate experience.

Incredible Adventures will put you in the plane and film you dodging canyons or skimming ocean foam, all while they film in. For $3000 you get the package and the raw footage. For another $350 bones they’ll edit it and add music. “Boys and their toys” women say..hell yeah!

Now if they only used F-14’s with that badass thrust to weight ratio ;) Check out the brochure - you can also experience “combat” for a small price. Pull 5g’s, drop 15 (thousand).

Hubble Down

Posted in General on June 24th, 2006

Sometime this week the main camera on the Hubble Telescope shut down.

The primary instrument aboard the Hubble Space Telescope shut down this week, an unwelcome reminder that the observatory’s future is tightly tied to NASA’s upcoming space shuttle launch.

If engineers’ initial troubleshooting efforts are correct, the problem should be resolved by switching to a backup electronics unit. A circuit on the primary unit is believed to have failed.

The backup unit was extensively tested before Hubble was put into orbit in 1990 but has not been powered on since.

“We fully expect that it will be working,” Ruitberg said.

Lets hope they are right considering the $2 billion in tax payers dollars orbiting earth, not to mention the ‘few’ million it costs to service it with spaceflights.

Disgraceful

I don’t know if anyone reading this has heard the name Alex Jones before. I personally had not before this past weekend on a visit home. On a ride across the Parkway I discovered this..

and up the road a little I discovered this as well..

WNC 117 (Small).jpg

It turns out this is a seemingly pro conspiracy ‘Bush is a Nazi/We live on a Prison Planet/Genetically programmed Babies’ site for propaganda. While I think all of that stuff is total horse shit I still have to respect it under the Constitution. It’s how I’m built, and it’s what my education is wrapped around - respect. What I do not respect though is marring this countries most beautiful landscape with your political attitudes.

Heres the thing Mr. Jones (and ‘infowars’ followers, one who likely created this artwork). The park doesn’t care about your opinion. People visiting the park don’t care about your opinion.  You probably didn’t do this yourself, and you probably didn’t ask someone to do it for you - but if you have any decency as a human being you should use what little power you have to discourage this kinda crap. Thats all I will say on this. I think the signs speak for themselves.

Canes Win!

Hurricanes Win!!
cupwin (Small).jpg

I didn’t catch the whole game but the last 15 minutes FLEW by and the Canes ended up winning the Stanley Cup 3 to 1 by stomping the Oilers in the face.  I heard a little something about a goal that was called wrong, so they really may have won by 4 ;).

In other news - something I meant to mention in my last entry. It was good to see Justin and Bonnie this past weekend in Shelby. I wish I had a picture to remember that by but we didn’t remember that until we were almost in Kings Mountain. There’s a nice empty house next door I’d be interested in snatching up but I doubt such an opportunity would still exist if I ever ended up in that area. It looked like a real fixer up’r - something which sounds like a lot of fun.  Not to mention the huge creek bed full of ivy that Justin wants to turn into a raging fire. Anyways I digress..

06+16+06 = 21?!

Over the weekend Megan and I drove up to the mountains to see my family.  Megan was gracious enough to go on her birthday but I think she had a lot of fun. At least I hope so. So Happy Birthday Boogie! :) :)

‘I regret what happened’

DURHAM, N.C. — Former Duke University men’s basketball guard J.J. Redick was arrested early Tuesday and charged with driving while impaired, a Durham police spokeswoman said.

Kammie Michael, with the Durham Police Department, said Redick’s blood-alcohol level registered .11. The legal blood-alcohol level in North Carolina is .08.

Michael said the 21-year-old former Duke standout turned away from a police checkpoint at LaSalle Street and Kangaroo Drive shortly before 1 a.m. Officers then followed the 2005 Toyota sport utility vehicle he was driving to Belmont Apartments on McQueen Street, where Redick parked the car in a parking space.

“There wasn’t a chase. He didn’t run from them,” Michael said. “He was pretty cooperative.”

Way to go JJ - at least you commited a crime thousands of people get away with everday with the help of expensive lawyers and over worked courts. At least noone can accuse you of ‘celebrity justice’ ehh?

Maybe I should become a Tarheel after all…..nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
